Fragment of the base of a terra sigillata cup, form Drag.33.

Dimensions: Diameter of base: 0.054. Overall:0.018+ diameter,0.07+

The stamp is within a rectangular cartouche (0.004; 0.027), in the middle of the inner surface. The cross-bar of the initial A appears at the base of the letter. There is an interpunct.

 Letters: 0.002 Lezoux AD 145-175 (Hartley and Dickinson 2008: p.194) Originally found in Cirencester, according to the Accession Register It was given to the Ashmolean by Sir Arthur Evans (1851-1941), from the collection of his father Sir John Evans. This is a stamp of Andegenius, a potter based at Lezoux, a major centre for Samian production in central Gaul (Hartley and Dickinson 2008: p.194). The stamp may be interpreted both as Andegeni(us) f(ecit) and as Andegeni f(iglina).
