A circular orbicular stamp (0.113), damaged on one side, with a small orbiculus (0.022). Brick: 0.16+ 0.15+ 0.04

There are two lines of letters around the edge of the stamp, running in concentric circles. In the centre is a winged Victory, standing facing left, with her right arm outstretched holding a crown. The final letter, squeezed in next to the orbiculus, is unclear: an R may be deduced by comparison with other examples of the stamp. The name of the brickyards is obscured by errors: the letters OR appear to be duplicated by mistake, whilst the first E may be in place of an F.

0.01-0.011. Rome AD 212-217 (Steinby 1974-75: p.42) This brickstamp was part of a collection of brickstamps from Rome, Ostia, and Portus given to the Ashmolean by J.H. Clay-product from the estate of our emperor, from the Favorian brickyards, by Vibius Ver(na?).

The text of the stamp is given in CIL as OP DOL, but there is clearly space in the damaged part of the stamp for the word OPVS to be written out in full. FL appears in error for FI/G(LINIS). The name of the brickyards is unclear, but is likely to be the figlinae Favorianae (Steinby 1974-75: p.41). The letters AOR seem to be duplicated in error.
